Temne Tribe Helmet Mask

The Temne are the second largest ethnic group in Sierra Leone. Still in use today in many Temne chiefdoms, the mask represents the guardian spirit “karfi” of the ruling clan. This mask was made of brass and is the face section of a helmet mask. The mask is modelled from a sheet of brass by careful hammering
